Summary
Product identification
- Product Name: BetzDearborn* CP1156
- Product Type: Cationic polymer (high molecular weight, high charge density)
- Manufacturer: SUEZ Water Technologies & Solutions
Description and Use
BetzDearborn* CP1156 is a high molecular weight, high charge density, cationic polymer designed to function as a sludge conditioning agent or flocculant. It is intended to improve surface or wastewater quality as part of a total SUEZ treatment program.
Typical Applications
BetzDearborn* CP1156 is effective in sludge dewatering operations, aiming to increase solids capture, produce drier cake, and improve effluent quality. It is used in paper industry and other industrial sludges. It can reduce floc carryover in clarification/thickening systems, forming large, fast-settling agglomerates for clean effluent.
Additional applications include:
- Coke plant pipeline charging systems: Improves solids removal from charging liquor and increases the capacity of settling equipment.
- Refinery, automotive, and steel mill oily wastewater treatment: When used with a SUEZ Rec-Oil* treatment program, it improves oil, water, and suspended solids separation.
The product benefits any operation requiring a fast-settling agglomerate or well-flocculated sludge.
Treatment and Feeding Requirements
- Preparation: Can be prepared in batch using a dry feeder or eductor by slowly adding the powder to the vortex of an agitated tank. Do not add water to dry polymer.
- Maximum Solution Concentration: 0.5% by weight.
- Dissolution: Agitation (air or low speed mechanical, ~400 rpm) is required until complete dissolution (1-2 hours).
- Temperature Limit: Avoid water temperatures exceeding 37°C.
- Agitation: Avoid high shear agitation after the polymer is made down.
- Solution Use: Dilute solutions are recommended for use within 24 hours for maximum activity.
- Further Dilution:
- For general applications, further dilution to approximately 0.05% by weight (10:1 dilution) is recommended.
- For dewatering applications, dilution to approximately 0.25% often provides optimum performance.
- Treatment Levels: Proper treatment levels depend on the specific application's severity and conditions. Usage should follow SUEZ established control procedures.
