Description and use

BetzDearborn* CP1157 functions as a sludge conditioning agent or flocculant. It is designed to improve surface or wastewater quality within a total SUEZ treatment program.

Typical applications

• Sludge Dewatering: Enhances higher solids capture, drier cake, and cleaner effluent in paper industry and other industrial sludges.
• Clarification/Thickening: Reduces floc carryover in waste and influent clarification/thickening systems, producing a clean effluent with large, fast-settling agglomerates.
• Coke Plant Pipeline Charging: Improves solids removal from charging liquor and increases settling equipment capacity.
• Oily Wastewater Treatment: When used with SUEZ Rec-Oil* programs, it improves oil, water, and suspended solids separation in refinery, automotive, and steel mill wastewater.

This product benefits any operation requiring a fast-settling agglomerate or a well-flocculated sludge.

Treatment and feeding requirements

• Preparation: Can be prepared by adding the powder to the vortex of an agitated tank using a dry feeder or eductor. Do not add water to dry polymer.
• Maximum Solution Concentration: 0.5% by weight.
• Dissolution: Agitation (air or low speed mechanical, 400 rpm) should continue for one to two hours until complete dissolution.
• Handling Precautions: Avoid degrading the polymer with water temperatures exceeding 37°C and high shear agitation after preparation.
• Solution Usage: Dilute solutions are recommended for use within 24 hours for maximum activity.
• Further Dilution:
  • For most applications: Further dilute stock solution to approximately 0.05% by weight (10 to 1 ratio).
  • For dewatering applications: Dilution to approximately 0.25% often provides optimum performance.
• Treatment Levels: Proper treatment levels depend on the severity of the problem and site-specific conditions. Product use should follow SUEZ control procedures for specific applications.
