Summary
Product identification
- Product Name: JelCleer* JPC700
- Product Type: Coagulant activator for JelCleer filtration media
Description and Use
JelCleer JPC700 is a high-molecular weight coagulant designed to activate JelCleer 1000 filtration media after it has been loaded into filter vessels. It absorbs onto the active surface of the JelCleer 1000 media, enabling efficient removal of colloidal solids from influent water. It is a highly effective alternative to continuous coagulant feed.
Features
- Compatible with Hypersperse* MDC150 and Hypersperse MDC220 deposit control formulations.
- Compatible with and proven not to foul thin film composite membranes.
- Allows for activation or recoating of JelCleer* 1000 filtration media in minutes while the media remains in the filter vessel.
Application
JelCleer 1000 filtration media must be cleaned with JelCleer JCL711 (refer to JCL711 Product Fact Sheet for instructions) and then activated with JelCleer JPC700 before use.
Activation Procedure:
- Dilute JelCleer JPC700 to approximately 25% strength.
- Begin backwashing the filter using normal parameters.
- Meter the prepared JPC700 solution into the backwash water for 3 minutes to achieve 550 ppm of JPC700 (adjust for dilution strength).
- Stop backwash flow and allow the filter to stand idle for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Restart backwash flow and add JPC700 solution as in step 3 for an additional 3 minutes.
- Stop backwash flow and allow the filter to stand idle for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Place the filter into service mode and rinse to drain for at least 30 minutes.
Reactivation is advised when recommended by a SUEZ representative.
Precautions
- JelCleer media must be rinsed for a minimum of 20 minutes following reactivation with JelCleer JPC700.
- For potable applications, the maximum dosage is 100 mg/L.
Materials Compatibility
Corrosion-resistant materials are recommended for storage and preparation.
