Kleen MCT107

Engineering summary from PDF text extraction for Kleen MCT107. Verify every value with the OEM datasheet.

Summary

Product identification

  • Product Name: Kleen* MCT107
  • Product Type: Membrane cleaner
  • Description: Neutral pH liquid formulation designed to remove organic foulants, silt, and other particulate deposits from cellulose acetate reverse osmosis membranes.

Typical applications

Kleen MCT107 is used for cleaning reverse osmosis (RO) membranes fouled by organic materials and suspended solids in the incoming water. Indications for cleaning include:

  • Significant decrease in normalized permeate flow.
  • Significant increase in pressure drop across the system or an individual stage.
  • Increase in normalized salt passage, resulting in unacceptable product water quality.

Treatment and feeding requirements

Feed System

To be used in conjunction with membrane cleaning equipment supplied by the membrane system manufacturer.

Dilution

  • Recommended dilution: 1 – 3 % by weight.
  • When preparing the cleaning solution: 1 to 3 kg of product per 100 liters of water.

Materials Compatibility

  • Corrosion-resistant equipment, such as PVC, should be used for storage and preparation.
  • Pumping materials in contact with the diluted product should also be corrosion-resistant.

General cleaning instructions

  1. Inspect and clean the cleaning tank, hoses, and install new cartridge filters if necessary.
  2. Fill the cleaning tank with RO permeate or demineralised water. Turn on agitator or pump recirculation.
  3. Slowly add Kleen MCT107 to the cleaning tank and allow to mix thoroughly.
  4. Check and adjust solution temperature to the optimum recommended by the manufacturer.
  5. Check solution pH; it should be between 6.5 - 7. Adjust pH upwards with NaOH or downwards with hydrochloric acid as needed.
  6. Circulate the solution through one stage at a time in the direction of feed flow for 30 minutes at the flow rate recommended by the membrane or system manufacturer.
    • Pressure should be low enough to prevent permeate production, but always less than 4 barg.
    • For heavy fouling, the first return flow (up to 15% of cleaning tank volume) can be diverted to drain.
    • Each stage must be cleaned separately in a multistage system.
  7. If the cleaning solution becomes turbid or discolored, dump the tank and prepare a fresh solution. A new cleaning solution should be prepared for each stage.
  8. Rinse with RO permeate before returning the system to service.
  9. When returning the unit to service, divert product water to drain until any residual cleaning solution is rinsed from the system.
