Product Identification

Kleen* MCT411 is a high pH, powdered formulation designed for cleaning reverse osmosis (RO), nanofiltration (NF), and ultrafiltration (UF) membranes.

Description and Use:

• Removes organics, silt, and particulate deposits.
• Suitable for polysulfone, all polyamide thin film composite, and hollow fine fiber membranes.
• DO NOT USE on cellulose acetate membranes.

Operating Characteristics

• Buffered to maintain a pH of 11.0 ± 0.5 over a range of dilutions.
• Enhanced performance at elevated temperatures.
• Low foam formulation.
• No adverse effects with repeated use.
• Optimum results are obtained when used in conjunction with a low pH Kleen MCT product.
• Excellent results are achieved when used to eliminate biological slime.

Treatment and Feeding Requirements

• Consult your local SUEZ representative for optimum dosage rate and cleaning procedures specific to your system.
• Modifications to clean-in-place equipment may be required.
• Dose rate determination assistance is available via the Argo Analyzer software package.

Dilution:

• Typical dilution ratio is 1-3% in proportion to the total volume of the cleaning system.

General Use Instructions for Membrane Cleaning

1. Inspect cleaning tank, hoses, and cartridge filter. Install new filter elements.
2. Fill cleaning tank with RO permeate or DI water.
3. Slowly add calculated quantity of Kleen MCT411 and mix by recirculating.
4. Heat cleaning solution to the maximum temperature acceptable to the membrane manufacturer.
5. Circulate through the system in the feed direction for a minimum of 30 minutes at the flow rate recommended by the membrane or system manufacturer.
6. For heavy fouling, divert the first return flow (up to 15% of cleaning tank volume) to drain.
7. For optimum results, clean each stage (bank) separately in a multi-stage system.
8. If the solution becomes turbid, discolored, or the pH moves outside the recommended range, dump the tank and prepare a fresh solution.
9. Rinse with RO permeate (if possible) before returning the system to service.
