Summary

Product identification

  • Product Name: Kleen* MCT442
  • Product Type: Membrane cleaner

Description and Use

Kleen MCT442 is a low pH, powder formulation designed to remove calcium carbonate and other inorganic scales, as well as organic foulants, from reverse osmosis (RO), nanofiltration (NF), and ultrafiltration (UF) membranes. It is buffered to maintain an effective pH during cleaning.

Compatibility

  • Compatible with all thin-film membranes.
  • Limited compatibility with cellulose acetate membranes (pH adjustment may be required).

General Cleaning Guidelines

  • Always follow manufacturer's Operation and Maintenance Manual procedures and maintain CIP conditions within established membrane manufacturer limitations.
  • This product has a high foaming potential; ensure CIP return lines enter the CIP tank below the liquid level.

Dilution

  • Recommended dilution: 1 pound (0.45 kg) of Kleen MCT442 per 5.6 gallons (21 L) of water.

Contact Time

  • Typical contact time: 1 to 3 hours.
  • Soak time for severe fouling: Up to 24 hours.

System Rinsing and Flush

  • Rinse the system between acid and alkaline cleanings.
  • Flush the system after cleaning. Recommended guideline: the pH of the concentrate or reject should be within +/- 2 pH units of the feed water before returning the system to service.

Additional Information

  • Packaging: Available in a variety of containers and delivery methods.
  • Safety: A Material Safety Data Sheet is available on request.
  • Contact your SUEZ representative for materials compatibility information.
