Description and use
MemChem MCT254 is a low pH liquid formulation containing organic acids and solvent. It is designed to dissolve inorganic scale, metal oxides (such as iron, manganese, and aluminum), and other similar foulants from the membrane surfaces of reverse osmosis (RO), nanofiltration (NF), and ultrafiltration/micro-filtration (UF/MF) systems.

Typical applications
This product is used for offline clean-in-place (CIP) systems to remove deposits that can foul membrane surfaces. Indications for cleaning include a significant decrease in normalized permeate flow or a significant increase in trans-membrane pressure drop across MF/UF systems. For RO and NF systems, an increase in normalized salt passage to unacceptable product quality levels may also indicate the need for cleaning.
Treatment and feeding requirements
- Feed System: Apply using membrane cleaning equipment supplied by the membrane system manufacturer, or contact a SUEZ representative if such a system is unavailable.
- Dilution: The product must be diluted before introduction into the membrane system. The recommended dilution is 0.2% to 3% by weight.
- Materials Compatibility: Use corrosion-resistant equipment, such as PVC, for storage and preparation. Pumping materials in contact with the diluted product should also be corrosion-resistant.
