MemChem MCT505 is a liquid cleaner specially formulated to remove organics, greases, oils, oxides, and hard-water stains. It is designed for membrane systems including Ultrafiltration (UF), Microfiltration (MF), Reverse Osmosis (RO), and Nanofiltration (NF).
Description and use
MCT505 is a mildly alkaline liquid blend containing NPE-free surfactants, detergents, and chelating agents. It is recommended for removing organic foulants such as oils and greases from membrane elements. The product provides multiple cleaning actions including lifting, dispersing, emulsifying, sequestering, dissolving, and suspending. It is not compatible with Cellulose Acetate (CA) membranes.
Operating limits
- Temperature: Normally below 104º F (40º C). Enhanced performance at elevated temperatures.
- Circulation Pressure: Less than 60 psig (4.2 kg/cm²).
Feed requirements
- Application System: Should be applied using membrane cleaning equipment supplied by the membrane system manufacturer.
- Dilution: Recommended dilution is 0.2% - 3% of MemChem MCT505.
- Water for Dilution: RO permeate or DI water for RO and NF systems; filtrated water for UF and MF systems.
General cleaning instructions
- Systems must be offline for cleaning using a Clean-In-Place (CIP) system.
- Recommended cleaning solution pH: 9.0 to 11.0, or as recommended by the membrane manufacturer. pH can be adjusted with Betz MPH2500 (upward) or Betz MPH5000 (downward).
- Circulation: Circulate solution through one stage at a time in the direction of feed flow for 30 minutes.
- Soak: Soak for 30 minutes after circulation.
- Repeat: Recirculation and soaking stages may be repeated based on fouling.
- Rinsing: Rinse with RO/NF permeates or Filtrated UF/MF water. Divert product water to drain for at least 30 minutes after cleaning before returning the system to service.
