Summary
Product identification
- Product Name: Novus* CE2672E
- Product Type: Liquid, low charge density, high molecular weight cationic emulsion polymer.
- Manufacturer: Water Technologies & Solutions (SUEZ)
Description and Use
Novus CE2672E is a liquid polymer designed for solid/liquid separation and sludge dewatering applications. It is intended for use within a total SUEZ treatment program.
Typical Applications
- Sludge dewatering operations, resulting in higher solids capture, drier cake, and cleaner effluent.
- Settling aid in wastewater clarification and thickening systems, leading to decreased effluent suspended solids and higher quality effluents due to the formation of large, faster-settling agglomerates.
- Particularly suited for primary and secondary solids settling, thickening, and sludge dewatering in the paper industry.
Treatment and Feeding Requirements
- Initial Agitation: Thoroughly agitate with a drum mixer or recirculating pump for 30 to 60 minutes before initial use to ensure homogeneity.
- Daily Agitation: Remix the polymer for several minutes daily. Bulk system agitators or recirculation pumps should operate for 30 to 60 minutes daily.
- Contamination Avoidance: Prevent water contamination from condensation or droplets in open containers.
- Solution Preparation:
- Can be prepared using a continuous emulsion makedown unit or a batch system.
- Stock Solutions:
- Fill the solution preparation tank approximately 1/3 full of water (ensure agitator blade is covered).
- Begin agitation and slowly add the premixed polymer.
- Continue filling with water to achieve a 0.5 to 1 % solution.
- Mix for an additional 10 to 20 minutes at low speed (350 rpm). Avoid high-speed agitation.
- Transfer stock solution to a holding tank.
- Further dilute to 0.2 % before the point of application. Continuous feed is recommended.
- Neat Polymer Handling:
- Can be handled with appropriately sized gear or diaphragm pumps suitable for viscosities up to approximately 2500 cps.
- Suitable Materials: Type 304 stainless steel, polyethylene, and rigid PVC for tanks, tubing, piping, and pumps. Viton and fluorosilicon rubbers for pump components and hose linings.
- Limited Use Materials: Flexible PVC tubing (e.g., Tygon*), Buna-N, and Neoprene rubber for short-term installations. Mild steel and copper alloys only if discoloration by corrosion products is acceptable.
- Stock Solution Handling: Use the same materials of construction as for neat polymer. Positive displacement pumps (gear or piston) are recommended for metering.
- Bulk Tank Storage: Should include a desiccant and an agitator or recirculation system.
General Properties
Physical properties are detailed in the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), available upon request.
Packaging Information
Available in a variety of customized containers and delivery methods. Contact a SUEZ representative for details.
Storage and Handling
- Storage Temperature: Moderate temperatures (4–32 °C).
- Protection: Protect from freezing and rapid or repeated temperature changes.
- Shelf Life: Use within six months for maximum activity.
- Spill Cleanup: Spilled polymer is very slippery. Cover with an inert absorbent material, sweep up, and place in a waste disposal container before flushing the area with water. Use sand, grit, or similar material on wet areas for traction.
Safety Precautions
Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet for detailed safety information.
