Summary
Product identification
- Product Name: Novus* CE2681E
- Product Type: Liquid, low charge density, high molecular weight cationic emulsion polymer
Description and Use
Novus CE2681E is a liquid polymer designed for solid/liquid separation and sludge dewatering applications. It is intended for use within a total SUEZ treatment program.
Typical Applications
- Sludge dewatering operations, aiming for higher solids capture, drier cake, and cleaner effluent.
- Settling aid in wastewater clarification and thickening systems to improve effluent quality by forming larger, faster-settling agglomerates.
- Particularly suited for primary and secondary solids settling, thickening, and sludge dewatering in the paper industry.
Treatment and Feeding Requirements
Preparation
- Initial Agitation: Thoroughly agitate with a drum mixer or recirculating pump for 30 to 60 minutes to ensure homogeneity before initial use.
- Daily Agitation: Remix daily for several minutes; use bulk system agitators or recirculation pumps for 30 to 60 minutes daily.
- Water Contamination: Avoid water contamination from condensation or droplets in open containers.
Stock Solution Preparation
- Fill the solution preparation tank approximately 1/3 full of water, ensuring the agitator blade is covered.
- Begin agitation and slowly add the premixed polymer through a disperser unit or directly into the vortex.
- Fill the tank with water to achieve a 0.5 to 1 % solution.
- Mix at low speed (350 rpm) for an additional 10 to 20 minutes. Avoid high-speed agitation to prevent polymer degradation.
- Transfer the stock solution to a holding tank for continuous supply.
- Further dilute the stock solution to 0.2 % before the point of application. Continuous feed is recommended.
Pumping and Materials
- Neat Product: Can be handled with appropriately sized gear or diaphragm pumps suitable for viscosities up to approximately 2500 cps.
- Materials of Construction:
- Satisfactory: Type 304 stainless steel, polyethylene, rigid PVC for tanks, tubing, piping, and pumps. Viton and fluorosilicon type rubbers for pump components and hose linings.
- Temporary Use: Flexible PVC tubing (e.g., Tygon*), Buna-N, and Neoprene rubber for short-term installations.
- Use with Caution: Mild steel and copper alloys may cause discoloration of the polymer by corrosion products.
- Stock Solutions: Handle with the same materials of construction. Positive displacement pumps (gear or piston) can be used for metering.
Storage
- Bulk Tank: Should include a desiccant and an agitator or recirculation system. Follow standard SUEZ tank installation instructions. Consult your SUEZ representative for bulk feed options.
General Properties
Physical properties are detailed in the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), available upon request.
Packaging Information
Available in a variety of customized containers and delivery methods. Contact your SUEZ representative for details.
Storage and Handling
- Temperature: Store at moderate temperatures (4-32 °C).
- Protection: Protect from freezing and rapid or repeated changes in temperature to prevent condensation.
- Shelf Life: Use within six months to ensure maximum activity.
- Spill Handling: Spilled polymer is very slippery. Cover spills with inert absorbent material, sweep up, and place in a waste disposal container. Flush the area with water. Use sand, grit, or similar material in wet areas for traction.
Safety Precautions
A Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) with detailed information is available upon request.
