Summary
Product identification
- Product Name: Novus* CE2682E
- Product Type: Liquid, medium charge density, high molecular weight cationic emulsion polymer.
Description and Use
Novus CE2682E is designed for solid/liquid separation and sludge dewatering applications. It is intended to be used as part of a total SUEZ treatment program.
Typical Applications
This product is effective in sludge dewatering operations, leading to higher solids capture, drier cake, and cleaner effluent. It also functions as a settling aid in wastewater clarification and thickening systems, producing higher quality effluents by forming large, fast-settling agglomerates. It is particularly suited for primary and secondary solids settling, thickening, and sludge dewatering in the organic chemical, oil refining, and paper industries.
Treatment and Feeding Requirements
Preparation and Dosing
- Initial Agitation: Thoroughly agitate neat product for 30-60 minutes with a drum mixer or recirculating pump before initial use.
- Daily Agitation: Remix polymer for several minutes daily; bulk system agitators or recirculation pumps should run for 30-60 minutes daily.
- Stock Solution Preparation:
- Add water to approximately 1/3 of the solution preparation tank, ensuring the agitator blade is covered.
- Start agitation and slowly add premixed polymer through a disperser or into the vortex.
- Fill the tank with water to achieve a 0.5% to 1% solution.
- Mix at low speed (350 rpm) for an additional 10-20 minutes. Avoid high-speed agitation.
- Dilution for Application: Transfer stock solution to a holding tank and dilute further to 0.2% before the point of application. Continuous feed is recommended.
Pumping and Materials of Construction
- Neat Product: Can be handled with appropriately sized gear or diaphragm pumps suitable for viscosities up to approximately 2500 cps.
- Suitable Materials: Type 304 stainless steel, polyethylene, and rigid PVC are satisfactory for tanks, tubing, piping, and pumps. Viton and fluorosilicon rubber are suitable for pump components and hose linings. Flexible PVC tubing (e.g., Tygon*), Buna-N, and Neoprene rubber are suitable for short-term installations.
- Materials to Avoid (unless discoloration is acceptable): Mild steel and copper alloys.
- Stock Solution Handling: Use the same compatible materials of construction. Positive displacement pumps (gear or piston) can be used for metering.
- Bulk Tank Storage: Should include a desiccant and an agitator or recirculation system. Follow SUEZ tank installation instructions.
General Properties
Physical properties are detailed in the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), available upon request.
Packaging Information
Available in a variety of customized containers and delivery methods. Contact your SUEZ representative for details.
Storage and Handling
- Temperature: Store at moderate temperatures (4-32 °C).
- Protection: Protect from freezing and rapid or repeated temperature changes which can cause condensation.
- Shelf Life: Use within six months for maximum activity.
- Spill Management: Spilled polymer is very slippery. Use inert absorbent material, sweep up, place in a waste disposal container, and then flush the area with water. Use sand, grit, or similar material in wet areas for traction.
Safety Precautions
Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for detailed safety information.
