Summary
Product identification
- Product Name: Novus* CE2684E
- Product Type: Liquid, low charge density, high molecular weight cationic emulsion polymer.
Description and Use
Novus CE2684E is a liquid polymer designed for solid/liquid separation and sludge dewatering applications. It is intended for use within a total SUEZ treatment program.
Typical Applications
- Wastewater clarification and thickening systems as a settling aid to decrease effluent suspended solids and produce higher quality effluents.
- Primary and secondary solids settling, thickening, and sludge dewatering, particularly in the paper industry.
Treatment and Feeding Requirements
Preparation and Handling
- Initial Agitation: Thoroughly agitate with a drum mixer or recirculating pump for 30 to 60 minutes before initial use to ensure homogeneity.
- Daily Agitation: Remix daily for several minutes; operate bulk system agitators or recirculation pumps for 30 to 60 minutes daily.
- Water Contamination: Avoid water contamination from condensation or droplets in open containers.
- Solution Preparation (Batch System):
- Fill solution preparation tank approximately 1/3 full of water, ensuring the agitator blade is covered.
- Begin agitation and slowly add premixed polymer through a disperser unit or directly into the vortex.
- Fill the tank with water to achieve a 0.5% to 1% solution.
- Mix at low speed (350 rpm) for an additional 10 to 20 minutes. Avoid high-speed agitation.
- Dilution for Application: Transfer stock solution to a holding tank and further dilute to 0.2% before the point of application. Continuous feed is recommended.
Pumping and Materials of Construction
- Neat Polymer: Can be handled with appropriately sized gear or diaphragm pumps suitable for viscosities up to approximately 2500 cps.
- Satisfactory Materials: Type 304 stainless steel, polyethylene, rigid PVC.
- Pump/Hose Components: Viton and fluorosilicon type rubbers.
- Short-Term Use Materials: Flexible PVC tubing (e.g., Tygon*), Buna-N, Neoprene rubber.
- Use with Caution (Discoloration Potential): Mild steel and copper alloys.
- Stock Solutions: Should be handled with the same materials of construction. Positive displacement pumps (gear or piston) can be used for metering.
- Bulk Tank Storage: Include a desiccant and agitator or recirculation system.
General Properties
Physical properties are detailed on the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), available upon request.
Packaging Information
Available in a variety of customized containers and delivery methods. Contact SUEZ representative for details.
Storage and Handling
- Storage Temperature: Store at moderate temperatures (4-32 °C).
- Freezing: Protect from freezing.
- Temperature Changes: Protect from rapid or repeated temperature changes that may cause condensation.
- Shelf Life: Use within six months to ensure maximum activity.
- Spill Management: Spilled polymer is very slippery. Cover with inert absorbent material, sweep up, and place in a waste disposal container. Flush the area with water. Use sand, grit, or similar material to provide traction in wet areas.
Safety Precautions
Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for detailed information.
