Summary
Product identification
- Product Name: SoliSep* MPT130
- Product Type: polymeric coagulant
- Manufacturer: SUEZ (Water Technologies & Solutions)
Description and use
SoliSep MPT130 is a highly charged, cationic, low molecular weight, liquid coagulant. It is designed for use in SUEZ treatment programs as a primary coagulant for removing colloidal turbidity and emulsified materials from surface waters and recycled process waters.
Key features:
- Unique, self-precipitating polymer.
- Targets low NTU and low color surface water.
- Excellent for removal of humic matter and iron.
- Promotes maximum solids and color removal.
- Highly efficient emulsion breaker for oil-in-water emulsions.
- No significant effect on system pH.
- Efficient, economical, and easy to feed.
- Increases resistance to filter breakthrough.
- Reduces backwash waste.
- Compatible with and proven not to foul thin film composite membranes when used as directed.
This patented product produces excellent water quality through multimedia filters, serving as pretreatment for reverse osmosis and other membrane systems. It is particularly effective in low turbidity river water pretreatment, potentially eliminating or reducing the need for alum and/or iron salts. It forms a dense, rapid-forming floc that is easily captured by multimedia filters and backwashed. Minimal reduction in alkalinity reduces the need for pH adjustment.
SoliSep MPT130 is also effective in destabilizing oil-in-water emulsions, including water-soluble oils, nonionic surfactants, glycols, and metal-working fluids, facilitating their removal by activated carbon and multimedia filters.
Application
- Can be fed neat upstream of the multimedia filter.
- Can be diluted with good quality water (e.g., permeate or DI water) to any ratio less than 10% to meet chemical feed pump capacity requirements.
Recommended materials for tanks, piping, and pump wetted surfaces: leaded brass, butyl lining, PVC, and polyethylene. Avoid unlined mild steel, aluminum, urethane, and nylon.
Compatibility Note: Incompatible antiscalant/antifoulants and coagulants may congeal and cause severe membrane fouling. SoliSep MPT130 should only be used in combination with compatible Hypersperse* MDC products, such as Hypersperse MDC150 and Hypersperse MDC220.
Dosing information
- Typical Dosing Range: 1 to 6 ppm (mg/L).
- Over- and under-dosing may decrease filtration efficiency. Custom dosages can be provided by SUEZ Sales Engineers.
