Summary

Product identification

  • Product Name: SoliSep* MPT134
  • Product Type: polymeric coagulant

Description and Use

SoliSep MPT134 is a strongly cationic, low molecular weight, liquid coagulant. It is designed for use as a primary coagulant for removing colloidal materials from surface waters and recycled process waters.

Key features include:

  • NSF approved for potable water use (certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 60).
  • Targets low and medium NTU and color surface water.
  • Promotes maximum solids removal to low NTU levels.
  • Highly efficient emulsion breaker for oil-in-water emulsions.
  • Efficient, economical, and easy to feed.
  • Increases resistance to filter breakthrough.
  • Reduces backwash waste.
  • Compatible with and proven not to foul thin film composite membranes when used as directed.

SoliSep MPT134 is NSF approved for potable water applications at a feed rate up to 130 ppm (mg/L). It produces excellent water quality through multimedia filters used as pretreatment for Reverse Osmosis and other membrane systems, particularly in low to medium turbidity surface water pretreatment. It forms a dense, rapid-forming floc that is readily retained by multimedia filters and easily backwashed.

The product is also effective in destabilizing oil-in-water emulsions, including water-soluble oils, nonionic surfactants, glycols, and metal-working fluids, facilitating their removal by activated carbon and multimedia filters.

Application

SoliSep MPT134 can be fed neat upstream of the multimedia filter. It can also be diluted with good quality water (permeate or DI water is recommended) to any ratio less than 10% to match chemical feed pump capacities.

Note: Incompatible antiscalant/antifoulant and coagulants may congeal and cause severe membrane fouling. SoliSep MPT134 should only be used in combination with compatible Hypersperse* MDC products, such as Hypersperse MDC150 and Hypersperse MDC220.

Dosing Information

  • Typical Dosing Range: 1 to 10 ppm (mg/L).
  • High NTU Waters: Doses up to 40 ppm (mg/L) might be required. Bench testing is recommended to confirm optimal dose levels.

Over- and under-dosing can decrease filtration efficiency. Sales Engineers are available to provide custom dosage recommendations.

Storage and Handling

  • Storage Temperature: Store at moderate temperatures of 40 to 90 °F (4 to 32 °C).
  • Freezing: Protect from freezing. If frozen, thaw and mix thoroughly before use.
  • Shelf Life: Use within six months for maximum coagulation activity; generally stable for up to one year.
