General

The Wallace & Tiernan OPC-Server facilitates data exchange between Wallace & Tiernan RS 485 bus compatible systems and OPC client applications. It supports bidirectional data transfer, allowing OPC clients to read and write process data. Data exchange can occur on a local computer network or over the Internet.

Supported Systems

• Process Units: All Wallace & Tiernan RS 485 units. Up to 32 units can be connected.
• Operating Systems:
  • Windows XP
  • Windows 7
  • Windows 8

Technical Requirements

• A free serial interface (COM) or a free USB port on the computer running the OPC-Server.
• Windows visualization software.
• A compatible operating system (as indicated above).
• An interface converter.

Connection Requirements

Access to the Wallace & Tiernan RS 485 bus requires a connection via a free serial port or USB port on the computer running the OPC-Server. The following interface converters are available:

• W3T172053: Interface kit RS 232/RS485 with power unit
• W3T172054: Interface kit USB/RS485
