Summary

Product identification

The KSB Etaprime B is a self-priming volute casing pump in a close-coupled design.

  • Design:
    • Self-priming, single-stage, single-suction volute casing pump.
    • Close-coupled design with pump and motor connected by a stub shaft.
    • Horizontal installation.
    • Back pull-out design (from size 40-40-140) allows dismantling without removing the pump casing from the piping.
  • Pump Casing: Radially split volute casing, with integrally cast pump feet (from pump size 40-40-140).
  • Impeller Type: Open multi-vane impeller.
  • Product Benefits:
    • Maintenance-free mechanical seal for operating reliability.
    • Good suction performance, self-priming up to 9 m suction lift, suitable for applications with relatively poor inlet conditions (low or negative inlet pressure) and for handling fluids with entrained gas.
    • Optimised hydraulic components for high efficiency and reduced energy consumption.
  • Certifications: Certified quality management to ISO 9001.

Operating limits

  • Flow Rate (Q):
    • 50 Hz: ≤ 130 m³/h (≤ 36 l/s)
    • 60 Hz: ≤ 150 m³/h (≤ 42 l/s)
  • Head (H):
    • 50 Hz: ≤ 70 m
    • 60 Hz: ≤ 100 m
  • Fluid Temperature (T): ≥ -30 °C to ≤ +90 °C
  • Operating Pressure (p): ≤ 10 bar
  • Geodetic Head (Hgeo): ≤ 9 m
  • Maximum Discharge-Side Operating Pressure: 10.0 bar (sum of inlet pressure and shut-off head must not exceed this value).
  • Test Pressure: 15.0 bar (casing components are checked for leakage by internal pressure tests with water).
  • Self-priming Limitations: The pump will not be self-priming when handling gaseous fluids, fluids which tend to froth, or water with a temperature T > 60 °C. In such cases, a check valve must be installed in the suction line.
  • Priming Time: Priming times vary significantly based on pump size, speed (n = 2900 rpm, 1450 rpm, 3500 rpm, 1750 rpm), and static suction lift (H1geo from 1 m to 8 m). See the official PDF for exact tabulated values.
  • Solids and Particle Handling:
    • Solids Content: Up to 3 %
    • Sand Content: Up to 4 g/l
    • Particle Size:
      • Single mechanical seal: Up to 3 mm (specific sizes allow up to 6 mm).
      • Double mechanical seal (Plan 54 as a minimum): Up to 5 mm to 12 mm depending on pump size. Barrier fluid system not included in standard scope of supply.
