Summary
Product identification
The HPH series consists of hot water circulating pumps, TÜV-approved and type-tested to TRD (German Steam Boiler Regulations). Type test certificates are available on request. The quality management is certified to ISO 9001.
The product designation follows the format: HPH [Discharge nozzle DN] - [Nominal impeller diameter in mm], for example, HPH 80 - 200.
Automation products available for the HPH series include:
- Hyamaster
- hyatronic
Operating limits
HPH pumps are designed for handling hot water in high-pressure hot water generating plants, functioning as feed and circulating pumps.
- Pump sizes: DN 40 to 300
- Capacities (Q): up to 1800 m³/h
- Heads (H): up to 225 m
- Operating pressures (p): up to 110 bar
- Operating temperatures (t): up to +320 °C
Specific maximum permissible operating pressures vary by pump size, material variant (GP240GH+N, 1.7706, 1.4931), and temperature (20°C, 200°C, 300°C, 350°C), with different values for acceptance tests to TRD versus without acceptance tests. See the official PDF for exact tabulated values.
- Maximum test pressure:
- For TRD acceptance test: 2 x maximum permissible pump discharge pressure
- Otherwise: 1.5 x maximum permissible pump discharge pressure
Mechanical / hydraulic
The HPH pumps feature a horizontal, radially split volute casing in a back pull-out design, with a radial impeller, single-flow, and single-stage. They are built with centreline pump feet.
Design Features:
- Hydraulic system: Nominal data and dimensions conform to ISO 2858 / DIN 24 256.
- Impeller: Closed radial impeller with multiply curved vanes, hydraulically balanced. Hydraulic balancing is effected by back vanes if required.
- Casing and impeller wear rings: Replaceable.
- Shaft: Not in contact with the fluid handled (dry shaft).
- Pressure-retaining parts: Safe design achieved through computerized strength analysis and quality casting.
- Modular design: Ensures a small stock of spare parts and fast delivery.
- Back pull-out design: Allows the casing to remain in the piping when the pump is dismantled.
- Volute: Designed with low radial forces; double volute depending on pump size.
- Rotor and bearings: Dimensioned to ensure a shaft deflection below 0.05 mm at the mechanical seal and a bearing life of more than 17,500 operating hours.
- Fixed bearing: Angular contact ball bearing in ”O”-arrangement, generously dimensioned, with little axial movement of the rotor. A reinforced bearing assembly is available for high inlet pressures.
- Radial bearing: Permits easy assembly and compensates for possible thermal expansion of the shaft.
- Lubrication: A constant-level oiler ensures constant lubrication of the bearings and oil level monitoring.
- Support foot: Rigid and firm, ensuring the shaft is only slightly displaced in the coupling area even with high external forces.
- Bearing bracket: Design with coolable bearing bracket and integrated cooling chamber.
- Shaft seal: Balanced, single-acting mechanical seal with a pumping device.
- Standard version uses balanced, single-acting mechanical seals of various makes.
- Mechanical seals are supplied with cooled lubricating liquid via product circulation (from the seal chamber through a heat exchanger and back). Circulation is supported by a pumping ring.
- The pump design allows for the use of cartridge-type mechanical seals for easier overhaul and repair.
- Examples of mechanical seals used: Crane ... 8 BVS, Burgmann SH 10 PV 10/...
- Flanges: Available up to PN 160 to DIN, with other flange designs possible.
- Dismantling: Forcing screws facilitate dismantling.

Acceptance Tests / Guarantees
Each pump undergoes a performance test run, with its duty point guaranteed according to ISO 9906/2A. Additional acceptance tests can be performed and certified at extra charge, including:
- Test run ISO 9906/2A (1 or 5 measuring points)
- Test run ISO 9906/1 (5 measuring points, observing individual curve)
- NPSH test (1 or 5 measuring points)
Hot water circulating pumps are subjected to a type test and a hydrostatic pressure test in accordance with TRD 501 by the German TÜV. Pumps that are integral components of a boiler and must meet VdTÜV acceptance test requirements are additionally subjected to material and product tests in accordance with TRD 401 and 402. Warranties are provided within the scope of the valid delivery conditions.
