Hot Water Variant Material Variants:

  • GC: Grey cast iron / chrome steel (Max. fluid temperature 120 °C [248 °F])
  • SC: Nodular cast iron / chrome steel (Max. fluid temperature 140 °C [284 °F])

Coating and Preservation

Pumps are available with different coating types for indoor and outdoor installation, in various RAL colors.

Indoor Installation Coating Types (for fluid temperatures ≤ 80 °C [176 °F]):

  • A1, A1-E1: Epoxy resin base paint, colour RAL 5002 (ultramarine blue) for exterior, bearing housing, and base frame. Interior can be epoxy resin base primer (A1) or epoxy resin base paint RAL 5015 (sky blue) (A1-E1).
  • B1-E1: Epoxy resin base paint, colour RAL 5002 (ultramarine blue) for exterior, bearing housing, and base frame. Interior is sand-blasted SA 2 ½.

Outdoor Installation Coating Types:

  • A2, A2-E1: Polyurethane base paint, colour RAL 5002 (ultramarine blue) for exterior, bearing housing, and base frame. Interior can be epoxy resin base primer (A2) or epoxy resin base paint RAL 5015 (sky blue) (A2-E1).
  • B2-E1: Polyurethane base paint, colour RAL 5002 (ultramarine blue) for exterior, bearing housing, and base frame. Interior is sand-blasted SA 2 ½.

A1-E1 and A2-E1 with RAL 5015 (sky blue) interior are approved for drinking water (KTW, DVGW, ACS) up to 60 °C [140 °F] max. (drinking water up to 25 °C [77 °F] max.). Shaft Seals

  • Gland packing
  • Mechanical seal (single, unbalanced, or balanced)

Bearings

  • For horizontal installation (Omega): Grease-packed rolling element bearings sealed for life.
  • For vertical installation (Omega V): Product-lubricated plain bearing at the bottom, and rolling element bearings greased for life on top.
  • Generously sized bearings (Lh10 = 100,000 hours).

Installation Types

The pumps can be supplied in various configurations:

  • Fig. 0: Bare-shaft pump (without installation parts)
  • 3E: Pump and motor on a common base frame
  • DB/DK: Motor mounted on the drive lantern
  • DJ: Pump and motor on separate levels (using cardan shaft or coupling with spacer)
  • DP: Motor mounted on separate drive lantern

Available acceptance tests and inspections include:

  • Hydraulic acceptance tests to KSB standard DIN ISO 9906 - 2B, 1B, 1U (equivalent to ANSI HI 14.6-2011/2B, 1B, 1U or Hydraulic Institute A)
  • NPSH test (to DIN ISO 9906 or Hydraulic Institute)
  • Sound measurement
  • Vibration test
  • Bearing temperature measurement
  • Visual inspection after test run (strip test)
  • Hydrostatic test
  • Impeller balancing test (to DIN ISO 1940-1 (G6.3) for hot water variant)
  • Coating inspection
