Feed water
The pumps are designed for waste water applications, handling a variety of fluids:
- Grey water
- Solids-laden river water
- Contaminated surface water
- Waste water with faeces
- Industrial waste water
- Gas-containing liquids
- Activated sludge
- Digested sludge
- Raw sludge
Recommended fluid properties and material variants:
- EN-GJL-250 grey cast iron (Material variant G): Suitable for neutral, slightly aggressive fluids with little wear. pH ≥ 6.5, sand content ≤ 0.5 g/l.
- Duplex stainless steel (1.4517 or equivalent, Material variant G1, GC, C): Resistant to cavitation, high strength, excellent resistance to pitting corrosion. Suitable for acidic waste water with high chloride content, seawater, brackish water, chemical waste water (pH 1–12).
- Wear-resistant white cast iron (EN-GJN-HB555 [XCR14] or equivalent, Material variant G2, GH, H): Rockwell hardness of at least 54 HRC. Suitable for highly abrasive fluids containing sand, ash, or iron ore sinter. pH ≥ 6.5.
- Sludge dry substance content:
- Raw/Digested sludge: up to 13% (D impeller), 8% (F/D-max impeller), 6% (E impeller).
- Activated sludge: up to 13% (D impeller), 8% (D-max impeller), 5% (K impeller).
- Gas-containing liquids: Up to 8% gas content for F/F-max impellers. Contact KSB for higher outgassing rates.
- Abrasive substances: Severe hydroabrasive wear occurs if solids contents of approx. 0.5 g/l or higher are combined with circumferential speeds exceeding 20 m/s or low-flow conditions.
