Storage and Handling
- Storage of PURON Modules:
- Ambient temperature: 41 to 77°F (5 to 25°C).
- Avoid extended exposure to UV.
- Do not store for longer than 3 months on site.
- Transport of PURON Modules:
- Ambient temperature: 23 to 113°F (-5 to 45°C).
- For ship transport, use seaworthy packaging.
- Dry-up Protection:
- Once commissioned with aqueous medium, modules should never be stored dry.
- For idle periods of 7 days or less, keep submerged in aerated, recirculated, healthy biomass, with module aeration every 30 minutes for 1 minute to assure sludge mixing.
- Storage of Used Modules (idle period > 7 days):
- Submerge fully in potable water, aerate 3-4 hours, drain, and refill with fresh water.
- Add sodium hypochlorite to achieve 10 mg/L total chlorine at pH 5.5-7.5.
- Check chlorine daily; if below 5 mg/L, add more sodium hypochlorite.
- Long-term Storage (idle period > 21 days or dry-up unavoidable): Consult KMS for details.
- Proper Handling: Exercise utmost care; avoid collisions, impact, or rough handling.
- Precautions When Working Near the Hollow Fiber Module: Keep modules free from sharp objects or heat sources. Prohibit actions causing sparks (e.g., welding, grinding).
