Summary

Product identification

The MICRODYN RO LE series consists of Low Energy Brackish Water Reverse Osmosis (RO) Elements designed for water purification applications requiring reduced energy consumption. These elements feature a low energy membrane for upgrading RO systems and operate under low pressure conditions. They are certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 61 for use in drinking water systems.

MICRODYN RO elements are available in standard 4-inch and 8-inch spiral-wound designs.

  • Membrane Chemistry: Thin-Film Composite Polyamide
  • Construction: Spiral-Wound Membrane Element with Fiberglass Outerwrap (some models use Tape Outerwrap)
  • Stabilized Salt Rejection: 99.3%
  • Minimum Salt Rejection: 98.8%

All models on this sheet have diamond shaped feed spacers.

Element Specifications

Test conditions for permeate flow: 1,500 ppm NaCl, 10.3 bar (150 psi), 25°C (77°F), 15% recovery, pH 8.0, 30 minutes operation. Flow rates will be no more than 15% below the values shown.

  • For Female elements, Dimension “C” is the Inner Diameter. For Male elements, “C” is the Outer Diameter.
  • Male elements have a protruding permeate tube. Dimension “D” (not in table, but referenced in diagram description) is 26.7 mm (1.05 in).
  • Element shipping weight depends on packaging material and quantity.

Operating limits

  • Maximum Operating Pressure:
    • Tape Outerwrap Models: 21 bar (300 psi)
    • Fiberglass Outerwrap Models: 41 bar (600 psi)
  • Maximum Operating Temperature: 45°C (113°F)
  • Cleaning pH Range: 1.0 – 12.0
  • Chlorine Tolerance: < 0.1 ppm (Pretreatment is recommended for the removal of free chlorine and other oxidizing agents.)
  • Maximum Pressure Drop: 1 bar (15 psi) per element; 4 bar (60 psi) per housing
  • Maximum SDI₁₅: 5.0
  • Maximum Turbidity: 1 NTU

Important Information

  • Start-up: It is recommended to flush elements for 30 minutes at low pressure and discard permeate during the flush prior to operation.
  • Cleaning: MICRODYN RO membrane elements must be cleaned periodically to ensure proper operation.
  • Storage: Elements must be stored appropriately to ensure proper operation.
  • Regulatory: All models on this sheet are certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 61 for use in drinking water systems.
