Summary

Product identification

Date: 02/05/2020

The TRISEP® XN45 is a high-flow nanofiltration (NF) membrane, specifically a piperazine-based flat sheet. It is designed for versatility in process streams and low-pressure water purification. The XN45 membrane offers high rejection of divalent ions while allowing most monovalent ions to pass through.

With a molecular weight cut-off (MWCO) ranging from 300-500 Daltons, it is suitable for the demineralization of organic solutes. The XN45 membrane sheet is FDA compliant and available in both dry and wet flat sheet rolls.

Membrane Characteristics

  • Membrane Chemistry: Thin-Film Polypiperazine
  • Backing Material: Non-Woven Polyester
  • Stabilized MgSO₄ Rejection: 96.0% (Bounds: 94.0 – 98.0%)
    • Test conditions for MgSO₄ rejection: 2,000 ppm MgSO₄, 7.6 bar (110 psi), 25°C (77°F), 15% recovery, pH 8.0, 30 minutes operation.
  • Typical NaCl rejection: 20%
  • Flux Range: 47.6 – 73.1 LMH (28.0 – 43.0 GFD)
  • Thickness: 130 – 170 μm
  • pH Range: 1.0 – 12.0
  • Chlorine Tolerance: < 0.1 ppm
    • Note: Oxidizing agents, such as free chlorine, in contact with piperazine membranes may lead to shortened operating life or membrane failure.

Important Information

  • Standard Sizes:
    • Sample size: 305 mm x 1,016 mm (12 in x 40 in)
    • Nominal roll size: 305 m x 1,016 mm (1,000 ft x 40 in)
    • Custom lengths may be available on request.
  • Initial Flush: MICRODYN-NADIR recommends flushing the membrane for 30 minutes and discarding the permeate during the flush prior to operation.
  • Storage:
    • Membrane is shipped dry unless wet membrane is specifically requested.
    • Membrane shipped dry should be stored in a cool, dry place.
    • If shipped wet, TRISEP membrane must remain sealed and refrigerated prior to use. Refer to the Membrane Storage Guide – Flat Sheet Membrane (TSG-O-011) for more details.
